#YCIntroduces Sigrid Guinn
Updated: May 20, 2019
Today for our miniseries #YCIntroduces, we interview one of our longest serving YC staff members, Sigrid Guinn, and ask her some questions before she's off on retirement (approaching soon!):
How long have you been here with us? I have been with the district 27 years.
What mattered the most about being a teacher? What matters the most is listening and showing the kids that they matter.
What helped you the most to communicate with or get through to students (how about parents). All students have different ways of communicating, you build trust and understanding.
What do you love the most about being a teacher? Being around the kids everyday and watching them grow as learners.
What will you miss the most when you retire? Staff and students and the ¨Good Morning, Mrs. Guinn¨
What advice would you give a young teacher? Be patience and understanding. Be consistent and concerning.
If you could tell a student one last thing before leaving, what would that statement be? Do your best, challenge yourself to grow and learn.
Anything else you would like the community of YC to know? I would like to take this opportunity to say Thank you! Thank you to the staff and students at YC!
