The Advancement of YC's Girls Soccer Team
The Yamhill Carlton High School Soccer team is having an amazing year so far. They have a record of 10-1-1. They just defeated Blanchet Catholic which was an undefeated team ranked 6th in the state by the score of 4-2! They are currently ranked 3rd in the State of Oregon for all of 3A/2A/1A. They are the only Public School in the top 4 in the state. They have scored 63 goals so far and held teams to only 15 goals in 12 games so far. They are having incredible success and continue to improve as the season goes on and as they prepare for the State Playoffs starting on Halloween Night. Senior Night is October 15th at home against Dayton. A hard working coaching staff is fine-tuning the team and making great progress with the girls. We have a very talented group of 7 Seniors. This senior group is the first group to get their start when the Yamhill Carlton Soccer Club (YCSC) started a few years ago. They have been given some amazing opportunities over the years to develop their skills and receive training and practice from some of the best there is in soccer. It is programs like the YCSC that make this community great, support our great students and help them to be so successful! We wanted to get out some information about the YCSC as part of our communication about our great programs and great things going on in our community.
YCSC started in 2010 with 14 girls (now Seniors). They typically have 300 participants annually in our programs. PreK-2nd Small-sided games Program, YCSC in Mac Parks and Rec, competitive teams in the Timbers and Thorns League. Seasonally, we have over 50 youth volunteers K-12th grade that are mentoring younger club mates as game managers, coach helpers and Champions Club participants encouraging their much younger teammates.
We have adult volunteerism that has earned the club US Youth Soccer National Volunteer of the Year, 2 OYSA Statewide Volunteers of the Year, YCSC was named MLS Community MVP Club of the Year, and brings incredible coaching support from the top coaching educators of the Timbers, United Coaches Association, and US Youth Soccer. ADIDAS just donated their turf field from the North America Campus to the YCSC in their continued support of our efforts in this small under-served rural community.
YCSC is a great example of true grassroots soccer and how volunteerism and the generosity of MANY is turning an under-served community (with extremely limited facilities and no real public transportation, lacking the infrastructure you find in larger cities.) and turning it into an example of incredible community spirit and success. Membership in YCSC is only $15/ annually, the lowest membership cost in the state offering free access to programs like Arena Drop-in, free training with all guest coaches and Champions Club year round. We are building amazing young citizens through the love of the game!
Come out and support our girls as they battle to try and bring YC a State Championship!
